Cooking Day in EF.
Jour de Cuisinne a EF.

C'est l'Eid. la semaine de vacances apres le Ramadan... donc on fait des activitees hautement intellectuelles... cuisinne. petites photos de la montee des blanc en neige... pour les meringues et le gateau au chocolat - a la main !!

It is Eid. the week off to celebrate the end of Ramadan. So we decided to go for highly intellectual activities. cooking is one of them. Little pictures of the making of "snow eggs" when you decided to make chocolate cake and meringues, without the machine for the eggs, but just the whip.

Et puis on change de system pour le deuxieme gateau... And we change the sytem for cake number 2...

On a ete acceuilli chez WFP / PAM. comme dirait Fleur... Dans des boites de conserves.
Les americains on le chic pour faire des importations massives de leur materiel. comfort inclut (ca veut dire la clim) donc ils arrivent avec les prefabriques... et les plantent dans une maison de la ville. la douche a l'eau chaude, et les chambres sont a 10 degres. comme a la maison.

We were sleeping at WFP compound, Like Fleur would say... in "Cans". The americans have this wonderful way to import their materiel... fully. Comfort is brought from the US directly. They come with their rooms already done, basically. they have the "premade" rooms planted in the garden of the house. Shower with Hot water, and AC in the bedrooms.

Running water ... does not exist, someone comes at night to fill the tank.
L'eau courante... ca n'existe pas... quelqu'un vient remplir le tank le soir.

No Gaz in the kitchen... so we used charcoal. took us about 2 hours to cook pasta... Pas de gaz dans la cuisinnes, donc on s'est lance au charbon. 2h pour cuire des pates.

Next to the "Airport" someone is picking up Okra. A cote de l"aeroport" ... quelqu'un qui ramasse de l'Okra.

The bathroom doors don't close
Les portes des toilettes/douche ne ferment plus !

On a eu des portes toutes neuves... en metal. l'option "la porte peut se fermer" n'etait apparement pas inclue dans le package... dommage.
Reparation pendant le weekend.

We got brand new doors !! but the option "we can close the doors" was not in the package sold. That is really a shame... but that is the small surprises we have every day.
Repair over the weekend...

The end of the raining Season...

June to September... it rains, it rains frequently, and a lot !!!
De juin a septembre... Il pleut, souvent et de trombes !!!

A day in Nyala...
Une journee a Nyala.

A special day actually, because it was Loreto's Birthday. We cooked all day (at least it seemed like it) i was assigned to the carrots, which, in this country have this thing about being extremely soft, and so it becomes really tricky to remove the skin. Anyway, with some music, we made it.
And at night... some music, a barbecue. and that makes for a nice time...

Une journee speciale en fait. parce que c'etait l'anniversaire de Loreto. On a cuisinee toute la journee (ou en tout cas j'ai eu l'impression). J'etais assignee au carottes, qui ont la particularite dans ce pays d'etre particulierement molle. plus mes talents d'eplucheuses... etant douteux... bref j'y suis quand meme arrivee. Une soiree en musique, avec un barbecue... tres sympa tout ca !
